Interactive exhibit for AFRL

PeopleVisionFX has produced a mobile interactive exhibit for America's Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).

Entitled 'Today's Technology' the exhibit describes how the AFRL has created technological innovations which have become part of life as we know it today.

Visitors are greeted by a larger than lifesize SpokesMannequin headscreen which welcomes them. The headscreen is a 3D video projection which captures the voice, likeness and facial expressions of a live performer and explains the overall purpose of the exhibit.

A topic is selected by touching one of eight 'touch photo' transparencies; this then lights up and a voice describes the featured technology and how it has been incorporated into everyday life.

Topics featured include electronically tinted visors; flame-resistant high-strength fabrics; 'Vein Viewers' which can see through the skin; shock-absorbing 'nanocomposites'; a Force Reflection Stick Controller for controlling wheelchairs; advanced aerospace composites for Olympic athletes; a radar system for school bus safety; and an infrared imaging and communications system for firefighters.

The AFRL is one of the world's premier research facilities, with a history of technological innovation in propulsion, avionics, materials, sensors, optics and many other disciplines.
